I've got to keep people coming, so I'm adding new content to my blog even though I don't feel like I have much new to contribute. I promise once Scott and I do something as interesting/cute as Weston I will post that too.
In the meantime, here are two videos of Weston that I thought would make people smile. The one just for the giggles (everyone loves a baby giggle) and the other for his simple cuteness.

I think in general Weston is a great sleeper, but lately his new "skills" are keeping him up. Actually this is nothing new so I know now how to approach it. When Wes was 6 months old he learned how to roll over from his back to his stomach so for several days he practiced all night long. He would roll onto his stomach, get on all fours and then cry until someone came in and laid him back on his back so he could go back to sleep. This happened up to ten times a night until finally we just let him cry and figure it out himself.
Well now that he has learned how to stand up we are running into the same problem. My wonderful sleeper is now waking up in the middle of the night/nap and promptly standing up. I'm not playing this game again! So Weston figured out pretty quickly how to sit/ fall down himself, because no one is going to rescue him this time.

I'm Blogging Again!

I haven't blogged in a while because I am all too aware that I have nothing to say. Although being boring hasn't changed, I've decided to blog anyway because Myra says I should, and perhaps she wants to show the world how exciting her life is by comparison. http://myrajohnsonfamily.blogspot.com/

Many mundane things are happening in our family in the next few months. Scott is leaving in 6 weeks for a 3 week Jazz tour in England and Scotland with Synthesis. Starting Memorial Day I will be going to Provo pool for some fun in the sun, and a few weeks after that Wes and I start swim lessons. In the middle of all of this Wes will be learning how to walk. He has started to stand up along furniture, and we'll see where that leads him. As is always the case with Wes, his frustration with his physical limitations may lead him to walk early, but he may realize that his falls hurt his mom and dad more than himself and decide to hold off a while...



In other baby news, Weston is as clingy as ever. We realize it's an age thing, and for the first time we are asking that he grow up a little faster. Having a baby follow you around the house sounds really cute, until he doesn't want you to go to the bathroom, or insists on helping you type your blog. So we are discovering angry Weston. I'm angry I can't eat your sandwich. I'm angry that stranger didn't smile at me. I'm angry I can't hold the camera.

Weston is crawling!...sort of

Weston learned over the weekend how to crawl. He still has a lot to figure out, but we are just amazed that he is mobile in any respect. He's only six months old!

I am so proud of myself for getting this video to work. I have lots of short video clips of Weston but was deterred from posting them because it would take HOURS of uploading to get it on the internet, and even then it was hit and miss. Since Scott was unwilling to help (until things got exciting and then he stepped in) I went and figured it out myself. Look at me! I'm a real nerd now, I can make large files smaller so they can be viewed by all (that's simplified for you non-nerd folk out there who wouldn't understand my newly acquired geek-speak vernacular.)


Weston is getting quite big and even more fun. Now that I've figured this video thing out expect me to post a handful more. It may seem like this blog is a Weston blog, and it may be for a while, but despite still having a thriving and interesting life of my own, nothing is as fun for me to share with the world (or the three people that read this blog) than Weston rolling onto his tummy for the first time, or his love for sweet potatoes. But let me have my moment, I'm a new mom.




This video is of Weston doing his funny "heeee" voice that he did for three days straight. It got a little annoying towards the end (he did it ALL day) but I would take it back over his high pitched squeals that he's experimenting with now.




Weston can't decide if he's waking up from a nap, or just opening his eyes to say hello.
